Wet weather sportsgrounds update

Subject to the sports season, Council employs a range of methods to notify all hirers and the community of current sportsground status through this webpage and the Wet Weather Hotline.

Winter Season - in the event of inclement weather, Council reserves the right to close any grounds based on the following considerations:

• Safety of users
• Amount of surface water present on the turf
• If the quality and integrity of the ground surface will be adversely affected due to the combination of wet turf and the stress of sporting activities
• Field location, soil type and the drainage system in place – some grounds have much better drainage than others
• If grounds will be damaged and taken out of action for long repair periods

Updates during wet weather periods are completed by:

• 2pm Monday – Thursday: Council website, Wet Weather Hotline
• 3pm Friday: Council website, Wet Weather Hotline
• 8:30am Saturday – Sunday: updated only if required

Summer Season - Council leaves the decision at the discretion of the ground hirer to decide if the playing surface is fit and safe for use. However, as with the Winter Season, Council reserves the right to close any grounds on the aforementioned considerations.

WET WEATHER UPDATE: Friday 3rd May Winter Season

As weather is unpredictable, Council reserves the right to alter its decisions on any ground closures after considering the current weather conditions, either during the week or the weekend. If you are unsure of ground conditions please call the Wet Weather Hotline.
